Zambia ENSO Explorer
El Niño and La Niña shift the odds of a wetter or drier, hotter or cooler season across Zambia. The map below shows, province by province and district by district, how past El Niño and La Niña seasons actually behaved, to support early planning in agriculture, water and disaster preparedness. Click any area to open a summary brief for it.
How to read it
- Each map summarises analogue years: past seasons in the same ENSO phase and strength bucket. The brief states how many years are in the composite and which years they are.
- Percentages describe how consistent a signal was across those years. They are not a forecast probability for any particular coming season.
- A small number of analogue years means a weaker signal, which is why the count is always shown.
- Season codes are month initials, so DJF is December, January and February.
- Administrative boundaries follow Zambia's current Common Operational Dataset: 10 provinces and 116 districts.
